Human Trafficking Education For Initial Nurse Licensure

An act relating to human trafficking education for

initial nurse licensure; amending s. 464.008, F.S.;
4
requiring completion of a course on human trafficking
5
for the initial licensure of registered nurses or
6
licenses practical nurses, beginning on a specified
7
date; providing an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

Section 1. Paragraph (e) is added to subsection (1) of
12
section 464.008, Florida Statutes, to read:

464.008 Licensure by examination.—
14
(1) Any person desiring to be licensed as a registered
15
nurse or licensed practical nurse shall apply to the department
16
to take the licensure examination. The department shall examine
17
each applicant who:
18
(e) Beginning July 1, 2027, has completed a 2-hour course
19
on human trafficking. The course must include the content
20
required of the human trafficking continuing education course
21
required under s. 464.013(3)(c).

Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026.
