1 House Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing March 2026 as "National
3 Kidney Month", February 10, 2026, as "Florida Kidney
4 Day", and March 12, 2026, as "World Kidney Day" in
5 Florida.
7 WHEREAS, chronic kidney disease (CKD) is the progressive,
8 gradual loss of kidney function, which results in a decrease in
9 the ability of the kidneys to remove waste from the body, and
10 WHEREAS, it is estimated that 37 million adults in the
11 United States have CKD, and of those, approximately 90 percent
12 remain undiagnosed, and
13 WHEREAS, without diagnosis and treatment to slow its
14 progression, CKD can progress to end-stage renal failure, which
15 is fatal unless the patient receives dialysis or a kidney
16 transplant, and
17 WHEREAS, regular screening and early detection can prevent
18 the progression of kidney disease to kidney failure, and
19 WHEREAS, kidney disease awareness empowers patients and
20 families to seek diagnosis, support, and appropriate treatment,
21 NOW, THEREFORE,
23 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
24 Florida:
26 That March 2026 is recognized as "National Kidney Month",
27 February 10, 2026, is recognized as "Florida Kidney Day", and
28 March 12, 2026, is recognized as "World Kidney Day" in Florida.
