1 House Resolution

2 A resolution designating May 10, 2026, as "First

3 Responders Mental Health Awareness Day" in Florida.

5 WHEREAS, the first responders in this state risk their

6 lives each day to protect and assist the public, and

7 WHEREAS, first responders often experience high levels of

8 job-related stress, trauma, and exposure to life-threatening

9 situations that can have a profound impact on their mental

10 health and emotional well-being, and

11 WHEREAS, the mental health of first responders directly

12 affects their ability to make quick, sound decisions in high-

13 pressure situations, which in turn impacts public safety and

14 community trust, and

15 WHEREAS, the family members of first responders are also

16 affected by the stressors associated with a first responder's

17 job, and

18 WHEREAS, providing support for the families of first

19 responders is a key component of overall mental health and

20 wellness, and

21 WHEREAS, acknowledging and addressing the mental health

22 needs of first responders is essential to preserving their

23 health, safety, and ability to continue serving the residents of

24 this state, and

25 WHEREAS, agencies and organizations in Florida are working

26 collaboratively to create peer support programs, crisis

27 intervention training, and confidential access to mental health

28 care for first responders, and

29 WHEREAS, Florida recognizes the importance of increasing

30 awareness, promoting education, and encouraging initiatives that

31 support the mental health and resilience of the first responders

32 across this state, NOW, THEREFORE,

34 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

35 Florida:

37 That May 10, 2026, is designated as "First Responders

38 Mental Health Awareness Day" in Florida.
