1 House Resolution

2 A resolution recognizing and commending Santa Fe

3 College on its 60th anniversary.

5 WHEREAS, Santa Fe College was established by the Florida

6 Legislature in 1965 to expand access to higher education for the

7 citizens of North Central Florida, and

8 WHEREAS, Santa Fe College earned national recognition for

9 its excellence and student success, most notably being awarded

10 the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence in 2015,

11 recognizing it as the top community college in the United

12 States, and

13 WHEREAS, Santa Fe College's support for United States

14 military veterans and their families earned the institution

15 distinctions from Best for Vets, and in 2025 the college ranked

16 1st in the Florida College System, 2nd in this state, and 9th in

17 the nation for veterans, and

18 WHEREAS, Santa Fe College was one of only five institutions

19 across the country to be recognized as a 2025 Impact and Success

20 Award winner, and

21 WHEREAS, more Santa Fe College students transfer to the

22 University of Florida, the flagship institution of the State

23 University System, than from any other college in this state,

24 and

25 WHEREAS, Santa Fe College has been recognized with a

26 Carnegie Classification for increased student access and

27 graduates earning more than 30 percent over the national

28 average, NOW, THEREFORE,

30 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

31 Florida:

33 That Santa Fe College is recognized and honored on the

34 occasion of its 60th anniversary, and the college's faculty,

35 staff, administrators, trustees, foundation, and alumni are

36 commended for their unwavering commitment to educational

37 excellence, workforce development, community engagement, and

38 student success.
